Escambia County: SUV crashes into school bus with students on board, FHP says

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a bus with 17 students on board was hit Wednesday afternoon in Escambia County, News 5 has learned.

According to reports, the crash happened around 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday off Interstate Circle/ State Road 297 (Pine Forest Road).

The driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old Pensacola woman, failed to yield to a school bus while turning left onto Interstate Circle, east of SR-297, an FHP report said.

Meanwhile, the school bus was traveling westbound on Interstate Circle approaching State Road 297.

As a result of the failed yield, the front of the school bus collided with the right side of the SUV, FHP said.

There were 17 students on board the bus, according to reports.

No injuries were reported from the crash.
