The Cameroon Football Federation have reportedly received over 100 applicants for the national team coaching job, with former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson believed to be among those being considered.

The Indomitable Lions are currently in the hunt for a new coach, with interim boss Jean-Paul Akono having been overlooked by Cameroon's footballing body for the job full-time.

Former Manchester City boss Eriksson has since been tipped as one of the likely candidates to take over the reins, along with Paris Saint-Germain player-coach Luis Fernandez, DR Congo boss Claude Le Roy and former France coach Roger Lemerre.

Eriksson, though, already has experience in managing a top African side, with the Swede having led the Ivory Coast at the 2010 World Cup, although they were unable to make it out of a group that contained Brazil and Portugal, and North Korea.

Cameroon football spokesman Junior Binyam added that a short-list of three names will be presented to the country's sports minister shortly as they look to return the team's pride after failing to qualify for the last two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
