‘Equal-opportunity supplier and drug dealer’ arrested after multi-agency raid in Maury County

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – One man is in custody following a multi-agency drug operation in Middle Tennessee last week.

The Maury County Sheriff’s Department, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) all worked together to execute a search warrant at the home of 40-year-old Jamie Rucker along Rally Hill Road on Wednesday, March 13, according to officials.

Investigators reportedly recovered $47,622 in cash, 359 grams of cocaine, 56 grams of methamphetamine, 105 grams of marijuana, 17 grams of ecstasy, two firearms, a Mercedes-Benz, and a Maserati.

“This was some great work done by our investigative units, our deputies. I think this started out as a traffic stop that kind of grew into what has led to this arrest today” said Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Hughes, who’s two weeks into his new role. “I wanted to also be a sheriff that worked collaboratively with our law enforcement partners across the state, and this is a perfect example of that in what has culminated in the arrest of Mr. Rucker.”

Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland said Rucker has been a bad actor in the community for quite some time, referring to his eight prior convictions that date back to 2001 and his confirmed role as a Blood gang member. At the time of the search, Rucker was on parole for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon with drug offenses.

“He’s an equal-opportunity supplier and drug dealer,” Rowland said. “If there was an illicit drug that you were looking for, Mr. Rucker, he could arrange that, up until last Wednesday.”

Rowland said authorities used their knowledge of Rucker having a violent dog and weapons readily available to put together a strategic plan. The Maury County sheriff added that two children under the age of 3 and Rucker’s mother were present at the time of the operation.

“When he was notified by a family member that was holding a small child sitting on the front porch of the residence that law enforcement was present, Mr. Rucker then fled out the back door,” Rowland said. “It was about a 500-yard foot pursuit as Mr. Rucker, as he was throwing backpacks of money, and then also large amounts of illegal drugs. I believe it was over an ounce of cocaine that he had on his person that day as he was just throwing that to get rid of. He also, he destroyed evidence and property as deputies drew in close to him, destroying a cell phone, but he was taken into custody without further incident.”

Rucker has been charged with possession of over 300 grams of cocaine, possession of 56 grams of meth, possession of ecstasy for resale, possession of marijuana for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and a parole violation from prior convictions, according to Rowland. All of these charges are Class A felonies, which are punishable by 15 to 60 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.

“Mr. Rucker, he is now a resident at 1300 Lawson White Drive [the Maury County Jail], where he will remain until a judge sees otherwise,” Rowland stated.

Hughes said protecting citizens is always a top priority, and this operation was a prime example of that.

“It’s important that we continue to work diligently to combat drugs in our community and the effects that that has on our citizens and their public safety,” Hughes said.
