UPDATE: Missing 2-year-old from Amber Alert found safe

UPDATE 2: The missing 2-year-old boy has been located and is safe, according to the El Paso Police.

UPDATE 1: Authorities are no longer looking for the Dodge Journey and believe that Miguel Angel Montoya may now be driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with Texas Plates of TX-TRH6179.

The El Paso Police Department stresses the urgency of locating Miguel Montoya and Kenji Montoya. The Police Department says any assistance from the public is greatly appreciated.

ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department issued a local amber alert Thursday morning, March 14 for a missing 2-year-old boy.

The Crimes Against Persons unit is seeking assistance in locating Kenji Adonis Montoya, 2, and his father, Miguel Angel Montoya, 29.

The Police Department says on Wednesday, March 13, Miguel Montoya brandished a weapon and fled the scene with Kenji Montoya in a grey 2020 Dodge Journey SUV on the 7200 block of North Loop in El Paso’s Lower Valley.

Kenji Montoya was last seen wearing a Spiderman long-sleeve shirt and jeans. He is two feet and a half inches tall and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Miguel Montoya was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, a black Dragon Ball Z hat, and a blue shirt. He is five feet, six inches tall, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Miguel Montoya is currently wanted by the Police Department on a felony criminal warrant for domestic violence.

The Police Department says the situation is urgent and poses a serious risk to the safety and well-being of Kenji Montoya.

“The public’s assistance is crucial in ensuring the safe return of Kenji Adonis Montoya and apprehending Miguel Angel Montoya. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be vital in this case. We urge anyone with information to come forward promptly. Please stay vigilant and help spread the word to aid in the swift and safe resolution of this urgent matter,” the Police Department said.
