Even though James “Ghost” St. Patrick tried to build a life where his kids wouldn’t have to break the law to get ahead, we’re inclined to think he’d be proud of the way Tariq steps up in the new trailer for Power Book II: Ghost‘s final season.
The video at the top of the post outlines Tariq’s situation when the Starz drama returns in June: He has Noma, Effy and the Tejadas gunning for him, with only his longtime pal/business partner Braden backing him up. And if that weren’t bad enough, he’s got a new foe: New York Police Department Det. Don Carter, who in the trailer warns the teen, “I know who you are, and I’m going to put you where you belong.”

With threats coming from all sides — even to Tariq’s family — is it any wonder that he declares, “I’ve got to become the apex predator”? (Side note: Did you catch Naturi Naughton’s Tasha working retail (!) as part of her new life in the Witness Protection Program?)
The first half of Season 4 gets underway on Friday, June 7 (8/7c). As you can see from the photos below, many characters will be on edge during the show’s final run — including Method Man’s Davis MacLean.
In the picture at the top of this post, a wary, sweats-clad Davis points his gun at someone we can’t see. Things are decidedly less tense in the photo below, as he meets with Tariq (played by Michael Rainey Jr.) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo). No word yet on whether that potential disbarment that Davis is facing will come to pass.
Fans of the show will recall that Tariq ignored his mother’s and Tommy’s advice and essentially started a war at the end of Season 3. He approached Noma (Caroline Chikezie) about a business partnership but soon learned the hard way that she’d already teamed up with Effie and the Tejada kids.
In Season 4, per the official synopsis, “New alliances have been formed with each faction, Tariq and Brayden must find a way back into the game. But Brayden starts flirting with a new, reckless lifestyle, leaving Tariq to wonder if there really is room for two at the top.”
In addition, Golden Brooks (Girlfriends, The Good Doctor) will join the Season 4 cast in the recurring role of Janet Stewart, Monet’s cousin. See her photo below.
