Kirsti Yamaguchi and daughter KearaOlympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi celebrated Japanese culture with one of her two daughters on a special night out.
Yamaguchi, 52, and daughter Keara attended the Los Angeles premiere of FX's SHOGUN at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Tuesday. The proud mom shared her thoughts on the series as as well as photos from her night out with her 20-year-old, on Instagram.
"Saw the first eps @shogunfx at premiere. The commitment & respect to be authentic to this era and culture of Japan is remarkable, beautiful scenes, costumes, performances. A must watch! (Except for one particularly disturbing scene 🫣) #epic🙌 Subarashī," she captioned the shots.

Yamaguchi shares Keara and daughter Emma, 18, with husband Bret Hedican.
In 2019, Yamaguchi opened up to NBC Bay Area about what she's like as a "skating mom," with Emma taking on the sport herself.
"Watching my daughter skate is pretty funny. I try to hold back and just be mom, but I’m probably a really bad skating mom because as soon as she looks at me with a question, I jump in," she laughed.
"I think it just becomes a little overwhelming for her, so she does have her own coach, Rudi Galindo, my former pair partner, and they work really well together. I do my best to try to stay back and just be mom and be positive and encouraging because it's hard. Any time you're getting comments from mom, it's sometimes hard to take."
Speaking with PEOPLE in 2017, the mom admitted that she doesn't take the ice with her daughter too often.
“It’s great — there’s so many positive life lessons you can learn, even if you’re not competing at that elite level,” she said. “I don’t know if it will be her ‘thing,’ but for now, it’s a great activity for her.”
On the rare occasion she does skate with Emma, Yamaguchi said, "My daughter loves it when I’m out there with her."
