COLDWATER — This Easter, Little River Railroad is combining trains and bunnies in its Easter Bunny Express, which will travel from Coldwater to Quincy.

The Express, which will travel at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, is perfect for kids of all ages.

“Bring the kids and enjoy a spectacular train ride,” said a statement from Little River Railroad. “The kids will have photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny as well as enjoy the traditional outdoor egg hunt in the Quincy Village Park.”

The egg hunt will have divided age groups.

“We provide baskets if you do not have a basket,” said Travis Bloom, the vice president of Little River Railroad. “More often than not, there are too many eggs for the baskets. I think this year we are going to put out 1,000 eggs each hunt.”

Tickets for those 12+ are $22, children are $15, and two and under are free.

While the Express has been a staple of the community since 2006, this year will look a little different.

“This year is going to be the first year that we are going to use our steam locomotive on it,” said Bloom. “The previous years we have used a diesel, but we were able to get things worked out to where we put the steam engine on this year, so it will be the first time we can run the steam engine for the Easter egg trips.”

Each trip will take around 200 people and the roundtrip will last about an hour and half.

“It’s our standard trip. When we get to Quincy, we have an Easter egg hunt in the Village Park, which is right next to the tracks,” Bloom said.

Bloom added that the ride is a favorite of many families in the local communities, who often will come back and ride it year after year.

“The Express is very popular,” Bloom said. “The village of Quincy is very easy to work with in allowing us to have our hunt there in the park.”
