Lenny Kravitz has become the latest icon to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The acclaimed rockstar, 59, got his star on Tuesday (Mar. 14) and was joined by a slew of A-listers including Marla Gibbs, Hal Williams, Verdine White, Channing Tatum, Pauletta Washington, Zoë Kravitz, and Denzel Washington.

“The star is a beautiful thing but if I didn’t have the people to share it with, it wouldn’t be the same,” said the Hunger Games actor during his speech. Adding, “To have so many people here that have known me all of my life and who have walked the journey with me is the real gift.”

Zoë’s remarks were a delightful blend of roasting and adoration. “Being your daughter has been one of the greatest adventures of my life,” began the 35-year-old. “Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways, we’ve grown up together […] We’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen you change in the most beautiful ways. I’ve seen you stay the same in the most important ways. I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art, but mostly I’ve seen through your shirts.”

She teased, “According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt […] At this point, I respect it. You really do pull it off. Your relationship with the netted shirt is probably your longest one and it works.”

Denzel spoke on their longtime friendship. “He’s more than a friend. He’s more than a brother. We’re twins. We just don’t look alike. We’ve had a close brothership for [over] 30 years. God has blessed you with an unbelievable talent, but even more so, an unbelievable heart,” said the Academy Award winner, 69.

He later called Kravitz his “ace boon coon” and his “brutha.”

The star ceremony comes ahead of the release of the singer’s 12th studio album, Electric Blue Light. The LP is slated for release on May 24. Watch the full ceremony below.
