Entergy Louisiana, DEMCO crews still working to restore power after storms

BATON ROUGE, La. (BPROUD) — Crews are still working to restore power statewide after Wednesday storms moved through Louisiana.

The National Weather Service reported tornadoes in St. Francisville, Lake Charles and Slidell.

Entergy Louisiana said utility crews are still working as of Thursday afternoon to restore power to 13,000 customers in the state. The company said power is expected to be restored to most customers by tonight except for the hardest-hit areas in southwest Louisiana.

East Feliciana schools are closed Friday; West Feliciana classes will be remote until Tuesday

In the Greater Baton Rouge area, power is expected to be restored to most customers in the Baton Rouge metro area and Denham Springs by Thursday evening. Customers in Port Allen and Zachary can expect power restored by Thursday night.

Most customers in East and West Feliciana parishes can expect power restored sometime Friday afternoon, Entergy Louisiana said.

Entergy Louisiana said crews have faced challenges, saying ground saturated by rain has slowed down work.

According to the DEMCO outages map, power is still out for thousands in East and West Feliciana parishes as of Thursday afternoon.
