English Road intersection to get new life

May 3—HIGH POINT — Redevelopment plans around an intersection in High Point's downtown catalyst district are moving forward.

The city has issued a demolition permit for the long-vacant Crown gas station at the southwest corner of W. English Road and N. Lindsay Street.

Work hasn't begun there yet, but across the street, crews are clearing the remaining asphalt and vacant structure from the northwest corner of the intersection.

Marc DeLille, whose High Point commercial real estate firm, DeLille Field, helped broker recent property sales at both corners, said new projects are planned at the sites.

He said he can't release further information because plans for each are still pending.

The former gas station site, at 601 W. English Road, was purchased in December 2023 for $274,500, along with a small adjoining parcel.

The identity of the buyer, 601 English LLC, is not publicly known.

Across the street, another LLC buyer purchased six adjoining parcels last summer. Three vacant structures on the site have been removed, with plans pending for demolition of one remaining building.

Also at the intersection, the city is constructing a new surface parking lot at the northeast corner.

DeLille said the city is not involved with the proposed projects at the other corners.
