British pop singer Will Young handcuffed himself to the gates of a beagle breeding facility in Huntingdon, England, on November 16, according to animal rights activists.

Young joined the group Camp Beagle, which describes itself as a “protest camp against the breeding of beagles for vivisection,” at a demonstration outside MBR Acres’ office.

Will Young tweeted: “I wanted to raise awareness of animal testing and the fact that this is a puppy farm that farms over 2,000 beagle puppies a year to be sent out to their inevitable torture and death.”

MBR Acres’ states on its website that: “Dogs bred and raised at Marshall BioResources are considered ‘purpose-bred’ for biomedical research… they are comfortable and happy, which ensures that the dogs do not experience undue stress, and that the research they help create is accurate and reliable.”
