Out of the many selected to be released, one player drew a lot of attention, Bryan Stork. A few weeks prior to this, the New England third-year center was in the media due to an unsportsmanlike reaction against Chicago Bears linebacker John Timu. Unfortunately, that may have been the move that caused the Patriots to relinquish his position. Stork had been placed on the PUP list due to a minor concussion and had been recently activated to attend practice on the field.

During Stork’s absence David Andrews stepped in as the starting Center. However, Andrews reign was short lived because when Stork returned to the field he was determined to gain back his position as the starter. The New England franchise is known for disposing of players that do not adhere to the code and after Stork’s unprofessional display, he had nailed his coffin shut. There were questions as to how offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia was going to handle Stork’s short temper but now there is no cause for concern.

In a somewhat surprising move, the Patriots have also released veteran wide receiver Nate Washington. Washington was signed to New England during the offseason. He signed a one-year contract with the team. His release comes as a surprise because he was assumed to be a veteran insurance policy should Edelman or Amendola miss a significant amount of time with injury. Washington’s release comes as even more of a surprise when you consider the injury to standout rookie receiver Malcom Mitchell.

New England always has a plan and they know when the time is appropriate to reveal their plot. For now, fans just have to wonder what the Pats and head coach Bill Belichick have up their sleeve for this season.
