The GLE43 and GLE43 coupe are motivated by an enthralling twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 with a snorty exhaust note. Its 385 horses and 384 lb-ft of torque funnel through a standard nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive (which Mercedes calls 4Matic), all enhanced by Mercedes-AMG-Mercedes-Benz's esteemed performance division-for superior sportiness. There's plenty of power to satisfy most drivers, although both GLE43 versions are still far slower than more hard-core performance SUVs with higher horsepower.

What's New for 2018?

Mercedes has coaxed another 23 horsepower out of this twin-turbo V-6, which increases total output to 385 ponies. While both the GLE43 and its coupe counterpart get this update, we've yet to test one with the added power. Otherwise, there are no other engine and transmission changes this year.
