It's no trick, Presque Isle State Park visitors will be treated this weekend with swimming at Beach 8.
Park officials confirmed that Beach 8 will be open for swimming, weather permitting, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Sunday will be the last day of the 2023 swim season, park officials said. It is believed to be the first time the swim season has been extended into October.
Beach 8 will be the only beach with lifeguards. Swimming is only allowed at guarded beaches.
If conditions change, visitors are asked to check the signs near the park's entrance to see if swimming is still permitted.
When does swim season usually end?
Presque Isle's swim season usually runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It has been extended at times into September, if the weather permits and there are available lifeguards, said Matt Greene, park operations manager.
Forecast calls for sunny skies, mild temperatures
Beachgoers can expect good weather this weekend, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s each day, according to the National Weather Service. Lake Erie remains relatively warm, with a water temperature of 69 degrees off Presque Isle beaches.
