Emraan Hashmi: Naseer took away my mantle of bold

Talk about bold thing and the first name which appears on one's mind is Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi. However in the upcoming film THE DIRTY PICTURE, Emraan wouldn't be that bold as he normally plays in his films. In fact it's the co-actor Naseeruddin Shah, who's done boldest and dirtiest stuff in the film.

"As far as the bold quotient goes, I do have my bold stuff but Naseerji is boldest in this film. He's taken away my mantle in the film. He's doing what I normally do," quips Emraan.

Nevertheless, Emraan jokingly adds that THE DIRTY PICTURE is incomplete without him.

"Everyone and everything is dirty in THE DIRTY PICTURE. And I am the dirtiest in the lot. You can't make a dirty picture without me," jokes Emraan.

Despite being bold in its approach THE DIRTY PICTURE hasn't crossed the line of vulgarity. Emraan states, "The title is very apt to the film. The tone of the film is bold, provocative but it doesn't cross the line of vulgarity, although vulgarity is always subjective. At the end of the day it's an entertaining film but it's got those nuances that push the film slightly towards bold."

Emraan, who has always stood out of clutter in real, in the film also stays away from the clutter. While everyone vies for Vidya's attention, Emraan is the one who hates her. "Yes I found it quite refreshing. I have romanced all my heroines - the relationship has always been that of love or lust. For the first time I've done film where the relationship is of hate. However, there is a palpable, underlined love present. It's very hard to explain. There's a tension more than love which eventually culminates into love between Vidya and my character," says Emraan.

As THE DIRTY PICTURE is set in 80s, everyone from Vidya to Naseer to Tusshar have donned the attire of that era except for Emraan.

"My character is kind of juxtaposed to the palate of the film. The film has an 80's look... it's about southern film industry but there's this guy called Abraham, who challenges that. He challenges the way people dressed at that time, their ideologies. He kind of walks his own path. Everyone's in colour in the film while he wears black. According to him cinema is not like what it appears. He is very real and artistic filmmaker. He likes logic in film. He doesn't understand buffoonery and entertainment something that Silk stands for and Naseerji's character. He is different and that's why he looks different. He's on an intellectual side," Emraan throws light on his character .

Directed by Milan Luthria, THE DIRTYPICTURE is set to release on 2nd December 2011.
