Emotional day for community members at Baur and Vang’s preliminary hearing

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – There was no end to the tears at the Manitowoc County Courthouse, where missing three-year-old Elijah Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, continued their preliminary hearing Thursday.

“Just sad… sad. If that was my grandkid or my kid, I would want to know where he is,” Cheryl Rauen, a Manitowoc resident who has been searching for Elijah since the day he went missing, said. “Where’s that little boy?”

Rauen was one of more than a dozen community members who filed into the courtroom benches Thursday morning, hoping to learn more about what happened to Elijah. No new details were revealed, but Elijah’s extended family and community remain just as committed to finding him.

“They really love him and are missing him, so I just wish somebody would tell us if he’s out there, where is he?” Rauen said. “You think about him all the time when you go to bed at nighttime and I’m sure the whole community does, because it’s reached everywhere.”

The tears will keep flowing for Elijah because there is no stopping the love that the community has for the toddler.

“Praying that someday I’ll wake up and I’ll hear that he’s okay. Where’s that little boy, somebody needs to tell us, whether he’s gone or he’s here,” Rauen said, before speaking to the three-year-old directly with tears overfilling her eyes. “Elijah, you’re loved if you’re out there.”
