Emory & Henry to host ribbon-cutting for Women’s and Gender Center on Saturday

EMORY, Va. (WJHL) – Emory & Henry College will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Helen Matthews Lewis Women’s and Gender Center on Saturday, the college said in a release.

The college said the grand opening of the Women’s and Gender Center will represent a milestone in its allegiance to gender equality and social justice.

“Named in honor of the esteemed Appalachian scholar, teacher and activist Helen Matthews Lewis, the Center embodies her legacy of fierce advocacy and dedication to uplifting marginalized communities across Southwest Virginia and all of Appalachia,” the release said.

The event will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Emory & Henry College, Damer House, 12150 Linden Street, Meadowview, Virginia.
