Emmerdale's Tom abuses Belle again in disturbing scenes

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale villain Tom King's abuse of Belle escalates in upcoming scenes when he discovers that Belle's family have been talking about him behind his back.

The ITV soap has been exploring the issues of coercive control and domestic abuse in Tom and Belle's marriage.

Recent months have seen Tom's controlling behaviour towards Belle intensify with the abuser physically shoving Belle, destroying her mother's urn, trashing their house, and even tracking her every movement via a mobile app.

Viewers will also gain further insight into the extent of Tom's abusive behaviour in this week's special episode that will explore the terrifying reality of Belle's life behind closed doors.

Next week, Tom steps up his plans to control all aspects of Belle's life and further isolate her from her family and friends when he reveals that he has set up a joint bank account for Belle to use.

Later, Tom uses the puppy cam to spy on Belle and discovers that she is chatting to Lydia and Mandy Dingle. Furious, Tom decides to listen in on their conversation.

As Belle, Lydia and Mandy make playful jokes at Tom's expense, the villain is overcome with rage.

Belle is surprised when Tom arrives home unexpectedly and is initially worried that he'll lash out at Lydia and Mandy, but is relieved when Tom appears to be in good spirits. Despite his pleasant demeanour, Belle fears he's only keeping up appearances.
