Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh makes an unprofessional move next week as he inadvertently exposes Aaron Dingle's deception over his gene test result.

The local doctor can't resist meddling when he finds out that Aaron has lied to his mum Chas about his recent news.

Earlier this month, Aaron, Cain Dingle and Caleb Miligan all got tested for the faulty BRCA2 gene after learning that this was the cause of Chas's breast cancer.

Aaron's test result came back positive, but he told Chas that it was negative as he didn't want her to worry.

This week's episodes see Liam discover what's going on and he urges Aaron to be more honest with his family.

Next week, Liam desperately tries to keep the truth under wraps when Chas asks some probing questions.

Liam hurriedly exits to avoid having to lie to Chas, but he may have already messed up by giving the game away. Chas is left concerned by what Liam has implied with his reaction.

Deciding to seek answers elsewhere, Chas asks Aaron a direct question about the gene test. Aaron is rattled and accidentally betrays the truth with his facial reaction.

Aaron realises the game is up as Chas confronts him. Livid to be put in this position, Aaron is quick to blame Liam for breaking confidentiality rules.

The next day, Chas worries when she finds Liam injured and she asks him whether Aaron is responsible. Liam confirms that this is the case.

Liam urges Chas not to be angry with Aaron in the difficult circumstances. Chas takes this on board and agrees that a more sensitive approach may be needed.

When Chas changes tactics, it pays off as Aaron confides in her about his fears over the result. Chas is relieved that Aaron is finally being open about his feelings rather than bottling things up.

Danny Miller, who plays Aaron, previously told us: "I know there'll be some sort of conversation with Chas about it at some point.

"Chas and Paddy are the only people he would really open up to and let his guard down to, without feeling weak and vulnerable.

"I think those conversations will be had at some point. But when that is, I don't know. And if that is, I don't know. We'll wait and see what the producers and the storyliners want to do with it.

"I think it'll be interesting but fingers crossed it'd be a story that's told with great care and detail and a positive outcome – for Aaron and for me!"

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
