Post Harry Potter, Emma Watson has signed on to appear in Sofia Coppola's next film, The Bling Ring, it was announced February 29.
The story of The Bling Ring follows a band of teen burglars who focus on robbing the homes of Hollywood celebrities, with Watson playing the leader of the pack of thieves.
Based on actual crimes committed a couple of years ago in Beverly Hills, the script will be written by the director Coppola (Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette), who will also produce the film with her brother Roman.
Coppola wants to reflect the current obsession with celebrity and "reveal a sobering view of our modern culture," according to the project's producers per The Hollywood Reporter. Also among the producers is Youree Henley (Somewhere).
Recently seen in My Week With Marilyn, Watson also is re-teaming with David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies, for the drama Your Voice in My Head. She also signed on for Guillermo del Toro's Beast, his version of Beauty and the Beast.
