We never thought we would be comparing Billy Ray Cyrus’s 1992 haircut with Easy A star Emma Stone in any capacity, but both his haircut and her dress last night at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet were totally business in the front and a party in the back. And, while Billy’s mullet should stay in 1992 where it belongs, Emma’s outfit last night was stunning.

The tea-length dress she paired with strappy black heels was solid purple in the front except for black detailing around her waist. In the back, however, the dress was embellished with gorgeous sheer black and white mesh that made us wish we could do prom all over again with her in mind. She wore her auburn hair in a choppy side-parted lob, or long-bob.

Emma has always been fashion-oriented, saying in a Vogue interview:

“I like to look through the glass. As I’ve been more exposed to (fashion), I find it interesting. I see what’s beautiful about clothes.”

We have loved watching her taste transform over the years from jeans and camis, to flawless red carpet looks, elegant gowns, and every hair color imaginable. In our minds, she is simultaneously ugly-singing in the shower like in Easy A, while also killing it on the red carpet.

Her consistently-classic look pairs well with her inherent goofiness, making her seem supremely put-together while also fun and charming.

If you, like us, are always dying for more Emma, check out her next film, La La Land, which also stars the always-gorgeous Ryan Gosling.
