Eminem Joins Effort to Get School Supplies to Children in Flint, Michigan

Eminem released a seven-minute song, and people have very mixed feelings.

Looking to ease some of the stress in the lives of a Flint, Michigan community that has endured a series of hardships stemming from a poisoned water supplyEminem has partnered with the Kids In Need Foundation to help get school supplies to the city's youngest residents.

“Continuing to keep Flint in mind. 90% of the kids in their public school system live in poverty – give us a hand getting all 5,500 students a backpack full of supplies. Link in the bio to donate,” he wrote in an Instagram post (seen in full at the bottom of this page).


While Eminem's reputation is one of a PR nightmare with a long checkered past, helping children in his home state is nothing new. His charitable organization, the Marshall Mathers Foundation, has a long-held goal of "providing funds for organizations working with at-risk youth in Michigan and throughout the U.S."
