Emanuel: New 'digital' website will help residents

Emanuel: New website gives Chicagoans access to social media accounts, data, smart-phone apps

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says a new website will be an online hub for residents looking for official city social media accounts, smart phone applications and more.

The mayor's office on Sunday announced the launch of "Chicago Digital." The website — called Digital.CityOfChicago.org — is meant to be an online hub of data, tech and social media information.

For example, the public can connect to every city of Chicago official social media account, view multimedia, and find web and smart phone applications built by Chicago developers.

The site also has video produced by the city and archives of live-streamed events, photos and links to the city's data portal.

Last month, they city began allowing people to interact with the 311 system via text messages.
