Stranger Things Stars Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery Match Hair at the SAG Awards 2018
In the second season of Stranger Things, Steve Harrington gives his young friend Dustin Henderson some vital beauty advice: the secret to his enviable, voluminous hair. And on the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet, it seems like Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, tried out the advice IRL when he and Joe Keery (Steve) showed up with the same ’do.
Gaten graced the red carpet wearing a classic tuxedo, but instead of sporting his usual mop of curls, the 15-year-old actor straightened and slicked back his (surprisingly long!) brown hair into a very Joe-like style. On the show, Steve reveals the secret to his height-defying look: using Faberge Organics shampoo and conditioner, followed by four puffs of Farrah Fawcett hairspray when the hair is damp — not wet, damp. No word on whether Gaten followed that routine at the SAGs, but it certainly would be hard to tell the two actors apart from each other when behind them.
Of course, it’s possible that the actors coordinated their looks beforehand since they’re best friends off-screen too. Gaten and Joe often share their adventures together on social media. They’ve joked about dining together at Outback Steakhouse, Cracker Barrel, and IHOP and eating sugary cereal together. Both actors are nominated along with the rest of the Stranger Things cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, but in our opinion, they’ve already won our hearts.
Fans on Twitter lost their minds over Gaten‘s new look and immediately compared it with Joe’s infamous ’do. “OK BUT LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON. @GatenM123 following the sick hair advice by Joe!” one fan wrote. Another said, “I mean did @joe_keery and @GatenM123 mean to have matching hair tonight or.” Steve Harrington: terrible boyfriend, great babysitter and style inspiration.
