Elmira Heights students to hold ‘Dancers for Dogs’ fundraiser

ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WETM) — Two students and dancers from Elmira Heights are holding an event that will benefit the Chemung County SPCA.

Alivia Bower and Amanda Hatfield, both of whom are students at Thomas A. Edison High School, New Visions Honors Academy, and Leslie School of Dance, organized a fundraiser called “Dancers for Dogs” for a New Visions project. This event will feature raffle baskets, entertainment from dancers, refreshments, and a kid’s craft table. Raffle tickets will cost $1.

Chemung County SPCA to host open house and fundraiser

The public is invited to attend Dancers for Dogs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 9 at 360Aurora, located at 360 E. 14th St. in Elmira Heights. While admission to the event is free, Bower and Hatfield are asking attendees to bring a donation for the Chemung County SPCA. Cash and item donations will both be accepted.

The SPCA is currently in the most need of puppy pads, canned dog food, meat-flavored baby food (made for humans), dry cat food, paper towels, and blankets. The SPCA could also use more dog food, kitten food, laundry detergent, unscented cat litter, dog and cat toys, Dawn dish soap, and spray cheese.

Those who would like to support the Chemung County SPCA and can’t make it to Saturday’s event can make a donation on the SPCA’s website or purchase items from the SPCA’s Amazon Wishlist.
