Ellsworth delays opening of splash pads

ELLSWORTH, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Ellsworth is delaying the opening of its splash pads.

Ellsworth is currently under a voluntary water watch due to drought conditions. The voluntary watch has been in place since last year.

The city is postponing opening the splash pads until at least May 13 so they can have a discussion with the city council about current drought conditions. The U.S. Drought Monitor shows Ellsworth County and much of the state is in a severe drought.

However, that is based on data as of April 30 and doesn’t include recent rainfall.
