Ella's and Ocean House each offer sublime dining in Westerly

Jun. 29—For foodies, two venues in a particular draw when it comes to fine dining in Westerly.

Ella's Food & Drink has a nicely appointed but modest interior that belies the sublimity of its food. The restaurant is known for its French-Asian-inspired fare. While I haven't had anything I didn't love here, arguably my favorite dish is the miso salmon, with forbidden black rice, chili'd bok choy and ginger sesame butter.

And then, of course, there is the Ocean House. Its food is as exceptional as everything else at this first-class resort. The Verandah is a wonderful place to eat during the summer — sitting outside, taking in the expansive water view, and nibbling on oysters or a chilled lobster tail. It's heavenly. And if the weather doesn't cooperate (or during the winter), the Bistro provides the same level of food quality — with offerings ranging from filet mignon to seared Rhode Island black bass — and the same kind of Atlantic Ocean view — just from a luxurious interior location.
