Elizabeth Banks Defends Planned Parenthood in New Obama Video

Actress Elizabeth Banks defended President Obama and Planned Parenthood, the women's health organization that is also the nation's larget abortion provider, in deeply personal terms in a video released by the Obama campaign Wednesday.

The video comes on the same day that Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University Law student who testified earlier this year before Congress during the contraception debate, will introduce the president at a campaign event in Denver. Fluke was attacked by radio host Rush Limbaugh as a “slut” and “prostitute.”

In the nearly 90-second video, Banks, who has appeared in movies like "Zach and Miri Make a Porno" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," says that Obama has "not compromised" on women's rights. She also explains that after graduating college she relied on Planned Parenthood as her health care provider, and then goes on to reveal personal details.

“Yes, I got birth control, but it was for my massive migraine headaches and my heavy flow,” Banks says, before quipping: “Yeah, I’m on record saying I had a heavy flow.” She adds that “these are the types of things I don’t want to discuss with employers. I don’t want to talk about that with my employer. That’s between me and my doctor.”

Banks then attacks Mitt Romney on his stance regarding the organization. Romney has said that he would “cut off funding” to Planned Parenthood, a line used in an Obama television ad. 

“These services they provide – what is it? – 95 percent of them don’t involve anything controversial," she says. "So for that little five percent that Mitt Romney decides he doesn’t agree with, he’s going to take away cancer screenings? What is he doing?”
