Elijah’s Retreat opens new ‘The T House’ cabin

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) – Elijah’s Retreat near Jacksonville opened their latest cabin called the “The T House” on Saturday.

Elijah’s Retreat is a place for families with autistic children to getaway by interacting with nature and therapeutic animals, all while disconnecting from the outside world.

150 families were on a waitlist to go to the retreat last year but thanks to the T House they’ll be able to accommodate an additional 80 families per year.

“Eliza’s retreat is a sanctuary for families, kind of unique in the nation in that the whole family gets to come out here and get to be a part of all of the different activities and things that we do.

This cabin gets to help another 80 families come out to a retreat this season and every season after this. And so it’s a huge a huge thing for the families,” said Cheryl Torres, the executive director of Elijah’s Retreat.
