Electric vehicle explodes in Boulder garage Saturday

Mar. 30—No one was injured Saturday morning when an electric vehicle caught fire and exploded in the garage of a Boulder home.

Boulder Fire-Rescue firefighters were called around 6 a.m. Saturday to a fire alarm at a home on Emerald Road for a fire alarm. They arrived to find an electric vehicle smoking in the home's garage. Shortly after they arrived, the vehicle exploded in the garage.

Residents of the home were evacuated. Firefighters remained on the scene to ventilate smoke from the home and remove other vehicles from the garage, the Denver Post reported. Firefighters called for back-up, including a request for an electric vehicle blanket. The Lafayette Fire Department provided the blanket, and responded to the scene, along with emergency personnel from Boulder, Louisville and the American Medical Response of Boulder ambulance service, according to a Boulder Fire-Rescue post on X.

Boulder Fire-Rescue officials are investigating the cause of the incident.
