Election Guide: Early voting begins Friday, information, times and polling location
Early voting for the upcoming Aug. 4 State and local elections begins Friday and will run through Saturday, July 30.
Registered voters may cast their ballots between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at The Maury County Election Commission, 1207 Tradewinds Drive.
The August election includes more than 50 candidates running for seats on the Maury County Election Commission, Maury County School Board, as well as several county judges, among other public service positions.
One of the most heated races is the race for county mayor, which has drawn three candidates: pastor and family life coach David Baker, past House Rep. Sheila Butt and Charlie Norman, all of who are running as independents, following county Republican party nominee Andy Ogles' withdrawal from the race to vie for the 5th Congressional District seat.
The 5th Congressional District Republican primary is also on the ballot with nine challengers facing off for the hotly contested seat, including candidates: Geni Batchelor, Jeff Beierlein, Natisha Brooks, Beth Harwell, Tim Lee, Andy Ogles, Stewart Parks, Kurt Winstead and Tres Wittum.
