The May 4th General Election early voting for the election of two board members for the Riverside Special Utility District and adoption of a 1.5% local sales and use tax for Walker County Emergency Services District No. 3 will begin Monday, April 22.

Early voting will take place at the Walker County Storm Shelter, 455 State Highway 75 North. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22-30.

Election day will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Walker County Storm Shelter and Riverside Special Utility District, 3662 Highway 19, Huntsville. Curbside voting will be available during the entire election period in the designated area.

"Please keep in mind that the May 4, 2024 General Election is not the Primary Election Runoff," said Walker County Tax Assessor/County Election Officer Diana McRae.

"Only those voters that are registered in the Emergency Service District No. 3 and the Riverside Special Utility District will be eligible to vote in the May 4th election."

Sample Ballots are available in the Elections Department located at the Walker County Annex, or can be accessed online under the Current Elections link located at www.co.walker.tx.us.

Voters are only eligible to vote in the districts in which they live and are registered in.

If a voter is 65 years of age or older on Election Day, has a disability, is expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day, is confined in jail, or will be outside the county during early voting hours and on Election Day, the voter can apply to Vote by Mail. Applications must be received by the Walker County Early Voting Clerk no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23rd.
