Eldridge Park to celebrate opening weekend with special events

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Eldridge Park’s amusement park is opening for the 2024 season in just a couple of weeks, and it’s holding some special events to celebrate.

The amusement park will open for the summer during Memorial Day weekend. Eldridge is holding its 100th Anniversary Gala, Train Day, and a kids karaoke event during its first weekend of 2024. Information about each day’s special events can be found below.

Friday, May 24: Opening Day and 100th Anniversary Gala

The amusement park will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on its opening day, and an honor ride will start at 4:45 p.m.

Eldridge Park’s carousel was first installed in 1924, and the park is celebrating this anniversary with a cocktail party in the park’s dance hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests at this gala will enjoy food and drinks catered by Hill Top Inn, listen to live music from Hammer and Shackle, and receive a special memento that will grant free carousel rides throughout the year.

Finger Lakes Boating Museum to celebrate tour boat’s 100th birthday

Tickets for the gala cost $100 for an individual or $150 for a couple. Tickets can be purchased by visiting Annie’s Hallmark at 2058 College Ave., calling 607-723-8440, or going to the shop tab on Eldridge’s website.

Saturday, May 25: Train Day and Saturday Concert Series first event

The park will be open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday will start with the second annual Train Day event. Eldridge partnered with the Railway Historical Society to bring a CAF USA exhibit, an Erie Railroad boxcar exhibit, operating model trains, vendors, food trucks, and more to the park. This event is free and will end at 6 p.m.

The Saturday Concert Series’ first performance of the season will overlap with Train Day. Doc Possum will take to the Hilliard Family Stage at 5 p.m. and perform live music until 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 26: Kids Karaoke

On Sunday, the park will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Toss for Tails fundraiser to take place in Montour Falls

Eldridge will be hosting its first-ever Kids Karaoke event with IDJ Entertainment from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate.

Monday, May 27: Memorial Day

Eldridge doesn’t have any events scheduled for Memorial Day, but the amusement park will be open from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.

After opening weekend

Eldridge Park is open to visitors all year from dawn to dusk. The amusement park will be open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. After opening weekend, the amusement park portion of the park will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Starting at the end of June, the amusement park will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays as well.
