Eldora Mountain announces extension making 2023-24 longest season ever

DENVER (KDVR) — Thanks to plenty of snowfall in March, Eldora Mountain announced Sunday that the ski area will remain open for an extra week, making for the resort’s longest ski season in its 62-year history.

Eldora opened for the season on Nov. 3 and was scheduled to close April 14, but the resort said due to popular demand and nearly seven feet of snow, it rescheduled its closing date for April 21.

“March really treated us well in terms of snowfall and we want to keep sharing the bounty,” Eldora’s president and general manager Brent Tregaskis said. “With so much snow and so few people this time of year, the Eldora experience is better now than at any point earlier this winter.”

Many ski areas and resorts have yet to determine a closing date, but some have already closed and some are closing within the first couple weeks of April.

According to Eldora’s website, the base depth as of Sunday was 40 inches, with a season total of 232 inches so far.

Here are some things the resort said guests visiting during the final week of the season should know:

  • Limited lift operations: Sundance, Alpenglow, and Corona lifts will be open.

  • Ski and ride school: Limited private lessons available for intermediate and advanced students.

  • Food and beverage: Limited offerings available in Timbers Café, Timbers Tap House, and the Lookout Lodge.

  • Nordic Center: We hope to maintain a limited offering for cross-country skiers through April 21, dependent on conditions. Hours and available terrain may be curtailed.

  • Uphill access: Uphill access will remain open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for uphill pass holders.

  • Know before you go: Remember to check the daily operations report before leaving home to learn about late-breaking updates.
