Elderly man dies after being struck by Joliet utility worker

JOLIET, Ill. — An elderly man died Thursday after being struck by a Joliet utility worker.

Officers responded to the area of East Cass Street and Herkimer Street on the report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Police believe a 75-year-old man was walking northbound across Cass in a crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford F-350, driven by a Joliet utility employee.

The man was transported with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center Thursday afternoon.
