EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Pasoan Leon Schydlower has been confirmed to serve as a U.S. district judge for the Western District of Texas by the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, announced in a statement issued on Saturday, March 23.

Here is her complete statement on Schydlower’s confirmation:

“Congratulations to El Pasoan Leon Schydlower for his confirmation to serve as the United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas by the United States Senate.

“A Navy veteran, current U.S. Air Force Reservist, and an experienced attorney and judge, I met with Mr. Schydlower last year to discuss this position and was heartened by his commitment to our community as well as his qualifications and expertise.

“I look forward to seeing Mr. Schydlower continue his journey serving our country in this new capacity.”

Escobar says she has been committed to elevating, supporting, and advocating for El Pasoans to positions of importance in the federal government. They include:

Maria-Elena Giner, International Boundary and Water Commission commissioner.

The Senate Judiciary Committee said this about Schydlower on its X account: “Judge Schydlower has served our country in the military, as a prosecutor, and on the bench. His background in public service has prepared him to serve as a federal judge, and it earned him bipartisan support.”
