El Paso County Sheriff’s Office warns of doubled fines in construction zones

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) is warning drivers that construction zones double fines for traffic infractions and shared the story of a driver who was going too fast in construction off I-25 and Mesa Ridge Parkway.

According to EPSO, on Wednesday, May 8, a deputy pulled over a driver who was going 81 mph in a 60 mph area that was marked for construction, indicating that fines are doubled in the area.

EPSO said construction zones warrant double fees and for good reason as those working in these zones and fellow drivers deserve to be safe. This driver will hopefully have learned their lesson, after being slapped with a $627.50 ticket and six points off their license.
