El Paso County brings awareness to ‘National Water Safety Month’

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County Park and Recreation is kicking off this summer with raising awareness for water safety.

Parks and Recreation’s Aquatics Division is offering swimming lessons for “National Water Safety Month” throughout May.

“Preschool and Learn to Swim Level 1” is an introduction to young swimmers to water safety, according to a news release from El Paso County.

Swimming lessons will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from May 7 through May 30 at Ascarate Park Aquatics Center located at 6900 Delta Drive.

Participants can select the 30 minute time slots for their lessons:

  • 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

  • 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

According to the County, the Aquatics Division staff are trained professionals.

Registration for the swim lessons is $40 for eight lessons per child and can by paid in person at the Parks Administration Office at 6900 Delta Drive.

Parents or guardians are required to stay present at the facility for the duration of the lesson, according to the County.
