Eight people arrested over teenage Vietnamese tourist missing from York

Eight people have been arrested in connection with a Vietnamese tourist that went missing on Tuesday.

Linh Le, 15, who speaks no English, went missing from her tour group in York and was last seen with an Asian man on the city walls above Station Rise at 4.40pm.

North Yorkshire Police are "increasingly concerned" for her safety.

They believe she "could be anywhere in the country".

The teenager was wearing a white Ariana Grande jacket and shorts and carrying a white rucksack when she disappeared.

The man she was seen with is believed to be aged 20.

He was dressed in a dark top and a black baseball-style cap.

Ten minutes before the sighting near the railway station, she was seen in Coney Street, which is short walk away via a bridge over the River Ouse.

North Yorkshire Police said: "Following enquiries, eight people have been arrested in connection with her disappearance and remain in custody for questioning.

"Officers are growing increasingly concerned for Lihn Le's safety and are appealing to the public for information as to her whereabouts.

"It is believed that she could be anywhere in the country."

The force is asking members of the public to report any possible sightings by calling 101, selecting option 1 and and quoting reference 12190144430.
