Eight arrested during felony warrant sweep led by Clay County Sheriff’s Office

LIBERTY, Mo. — Eight people were arrested Monday following a felony warrant sweep operation led by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrants cleared ranged from sodomy to terrorist threats.

Nearly 50 law enforcement officers were part of the operation.

A total of 48 deputies, officers and troopers from 11 different agencies worked to track down and arrest the eight wanted individuals the morning and early afternoon of March 4.

The team cleared an additional warrant by discovering the suspect was deceased.

The agencies that were part of the operation include the Claycomo Police Department, Gladstone Police Department, Kearney Police Department, Liberty Police Department, Excelsior Springs Police Department, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Pleasant Valley Police Department and Smithville Police Department.

Clay County Sheriff Will Akin said “We wanted to make a concerted effort to locate and arrest those who are a risk to public safety in Clay County and have been evading justice.”
