Egypt: 4th explosion leaves 1 dead

CAIRO (AP) — Security officials say a bomb planted on a road has hit a convoy of security forces on a busy street in the capital, killing one person in the fourth bombing in one day.

State TV confirmed the toll but gave no details on the blast Friday. The blast brings the toll from the series of explosions in Cairo to six.

The officials said the bomb went off on Haram Street, which leads to the famed Giza Pyramids, as the police convoy passed by, returning from nearby clashes with supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

TV footage showed a body on the ground, as military helicopters hovered overhead.
