This Echo Dot + LIFX Bulb Bundle May Be Prime Day’s Best Smart Home Deal
Amazon published this Prime Day deal a day early for its Prime members. For about the price of a pizza, you can get your hands on the company’s Echo Dot smart speaker and a bonus LIFX smart lightbulb.
Over the years, the Echo Dot has become Amazon's most popular smart speaker — probably due in part to its affordable price. This model is 70% louder than the second-generation Dot and it flaunts a UFO-shaped design with a fabric cover that comes in four different colors.
The Echo Dot will hear your voice commands via seven built-in microphones and it can connect to a larger audio system via Bluetooth or a standard 3.5-millimeter audio cable for an even fuller sound.
It’s the perfect accessory for getting the weather, news, or traffic. It also works wonderfully for setting timers, getting answers to questions, creating calendar events, reminders, and shopping lists.
Amazon recently announced this speaker’s successor, the 4th-generation Echo Dot, which will be released on Oct. 22. The newest model costs $50 or $60 depending on whether you opt for a variant that has an integrated LED display, which shows the time, alarms, and outdoor temperature.
As for the included light bulb with this bundle, it connects to your wireless internet connection and pairs with your Echo speaker for controlling it with your voice or smartphone. Normally, the bulb by itself is priced at $26.99 and the Echo Dot 3rd Generation retails for $49.99, making this deal hard to pass on.
