New all-you-can eat sushi restaurant is coming to Roseville — replacing another spot

A chain of all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants is set to open its newest location in Roseville this spring.

Akame Sushi is slated to open at 1902 Taylor Road sometime in April, restaurant owner Jason Li said.

“We’re not doing it just for us,” Li said about his plans to open Akame with co-owner Wenghui Zheng.

“We’re doing it for the community as well, to bring them the best quality food, and the best food that they can find in Roseville.”

Akame Sushi will replace sushi restaurant Maneki, which closed in November after less than a year.

Maneki co-owner Max Tolstoguzov told the Sacramento Business Journal in November that the restaurant shut its doors because it “was losing too much money” and “wasn’t getting foot traffic.”

What is Akame Sushi?

Akame Sushi will be an all-you-can eat restaurant.

The restaurant will also offer premium fish options for those who don’t want to opt into the all-you-can-eat dining concept, Li said.

What’s in store for new Roseville location?

As of Wednesday morning, the Roseville restaurant’s menu was not available online.

“We’re currently working on our alcoholic license right now,” Li said. “When we open up, I don’t think we’re going to have alcohol, since it’s still in the process right now.”

The Sacramento Bee searched on The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for its license, but the restaurant has not yet been issued a beer and wine license for the restaurant, according to its website.

However, the business had been posted on the California Secretary of State’s website as of Tuesday, and indicates it was filed on Jan. 24.

When will all-you-can eat sushi restaurant be open?

Akame Sushi will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Li said.
