Easter activities in Somerset County in 2024
Here are some of the Easter activities in Somerset County this season.
Good Friday services
Garrett
The Garrett community churches will be combining to have a Good Friday Service at 12 p.m. at the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. The Rev. Glenn Foster will be bringing the message. The offering lifted for the day will be used for the Community Bible School to be held this summer.
Berlin
Good Friday Community Cross Walk starts at 6 p.m. at the Berlin Borough Building. It moves to 700 North St., up Main Street, and ending at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., where Good Friday service is at 7 p.m.
Meyersdale
Cross Walk at 11 a.m. at the Grace Brethren Church, 112 Beachley St., Meyersdale.
Easter Egg Hunts
MeyersdaleEaster egg hunt sponsored by the Meyersdale Community Events Team is at 11 a.m. March 30, at the Paul Fuller Playground. Specially filled eggs for children who have food allergies. Hay bale hunt for infants and toddlers. Special appearance from the Easter Bunny.
Geiger COBGeiger Church of the Brethren Easter egg hunt for ages 1 to 12 is 10 a.m. March 23. RSVP to 814-279-6279 by March 16, call or text for more information. Bring a half dozen cookies to share.
Military Family
The Military Family Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Somerset County Military Family Support Group, for children ages 3-13, is 3 p.m. March 23, at 1338 Edgewood Ave., Somerset. Photo booth opportunity. All past and present military families are welcome.
Central CityEaster Egg Hunt at Central City Community Park starts at 1 p.m. March 24, for children in the Shade Central City School District. They have more than 3,000 eggs to be hidden as well as treat bags for the first 150 children. The Easter Bunny is also scheduled to attend.
Stoystown
Children are invited to attend an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. March 30 at Otterbein Global Methodist Church, 614 Wilbur Road.
Salisbury
Salisbury Church of the Brethren, 11 a.m. March 30, at 146 Union St., Salisbury. A light lunch will be served after the egg hunt.
Easter dramas
Berlin
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., to present Lenten drama "The Power of Lent" at 7 p.m. March 20. The church also plans a community cross walk and Good Friday service on March 29. The cross walk starts at 6 pm. in front of the Berlin Community Building and continues to the church, where the Good Friday service begins at 7 p.m. Those who plan to attend the cross walk are asked to park at the Berlin Brethren Church, 620 Main St., and walk to the borough building.
Meyersdale
Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 336 Main St., to present Easter drama Every Step He Took at 7 p.m. March 22 and 23.
Activities
Easter Frog Walk at KRNA
Enjoy an educational and immersive experience learning about the native frog species of PA with herpetologist Aaron Capouellez at7:30 p.m. March 30, at Kimberly Run, 174 Craig Road, Somerset. Dress appropriately for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes/boots, and bring a flashlight or headlamp. RSVP by March 28, at somersetconservancyevents@gmail.com.
