EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has revealed her youngest daughter isn't exactly a fan of her soap nurse Sonia Fowler.

The soap star has appeared on the BBC show since 1993, but it seems her daughter Joanie is less than impressed with her mum's character.

Speaking on Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Spinning Plates podcast, Cassidy shared the harsh truth and admitted her daughter finds Sonia "boring".

"She'll go, 'Mummy… Sonia's so boring. I just don't like watching you on here, honestly I just don't like it,'" the actor said.

"I say, 'I've been there a long time darling, there's a lot of people who do like me'.

"She says, 'Well, I'm not one of them.' She actually fast forwards my bits, but I don't know if that's because I'm her mum or that's just her take on Sonia."

Regardless of Joanie's harsh opinions, Sonia is amongst Walford's most popular characters, though Cassidy knows all too well that her stint on the Square could end abruptly, as it is customary in Soapland.

"One day I'm sure Sonia will end," she said, sharing her hopes for a possible future exit-

"I hope she can potter about being a nurse a bit longer," she added. "I don't want her to die a terrible death. I don't want her to get run over or pushed over at Walford tube station."

In a recent storyline, Sonia discovered she and Reiss are expecting a child after going through the IVF process.

The couple decided to try for a baby last year but were faced with many an obstacle before being hit with the happy news.

Sonia also has a daughter, Bex Fowler, born from the relationship with her longtime ex-partner Martin Fowler.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
