EastEnders has confirmed that Sonia Fowler is pregnant.

Viewers have seen Sonia and partner Reiss going through the IVF process, but a recent setback left her wondering if she'd be able to have a child.

While Monday's (April 22) episode largely revolved around Jay Brown and Honey Mitchell running the London Marathon (and Honey proposing to Billy Mitchell), there was exciting news for Sonia and Reiss too.

The pair had bickered in the Square earlier in the day, with Sonia insisting she would be taking a pregnancy test on her own.

The couple made up at the community party for Jay and Honey at the Vic, where Sonia shared with Reiss that they were going to be parents.

"I'm pregnant," Sonia announced to a stunned Reiss.

Reiss was ready to "tell the world" but Sonia explained they needed to keep it all quiet until she was farther along in her pregnancy.

"It's too soon," Sonia insisted. "Let's just enjoy it, yeah? You, me and our baby!"

The pair soon had even more good news to celebrate in the Vic as they watched TV footage of Honey proposing to Billy at the finish line of the London Marathon.

Sonia and Reiss decided they were going to try IVF late last year, but were faced with several hurdles before Sonia finally discovered she was pregnant.

Longtime viewers will remember that Sonia is also the mother to Bex Fowler, who was born during Sonia's relationship with long-time sweetheart Martin Fowler.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
