EastEnders' Lacey Turner looks back at her National Television Award win from earlier this year with nothing but humility.

The 29-year-old won out in the Serial Drama Performance category over fellow soap titans Danny Miller and Natalie J. Robb from Emmerdale as well as Coronation Street's Jack P. Shepherd for her moving postpartum psychosis storyline.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Lacey admits that she's questioned how much her long-running character's general popularity impacted the NTAs voting.

"I always think there's someone else it should have gone to but it's always nice to win," she explained to the publication. "I was glad Emmerdale's Charlotte Bellamy won at the British Soap Awards this year.

"You start to think people vote for you because they like you and actually there was someone who deserved it more in the category because their work was so good. She should have won – her or Kym [Marsh] as they both had intense storylines recently."

Turner is actually a four-time National TV Award winner and has also earned six British Soap Awards, so we suspect her latest comments are just an example of her modesty.

She's been playing the role of Stacey Fowler on and off on EastEnders for 13 years, having made her first appearance in Albert Square in 2004.
