East U.S. coast watches for tropical storms as Jose approaches

(Reuters) - Authorities may have to issue tropical storm alerts along parts of the U.S. east coast on Saturday as Hurricane Jose moves northwest, the National Hurricane Center said. Hurricane Jose, a Category 1 storm, was about 515 miles (830 km) southwest of Bermuda with winds of 80 mph (130 kph), the center said. The storm was forecast to turn north with a slight decrease in forward speed later on Saturday, the center said. (Reporting by Brendan O'Brien in Milwaukee)
