East Texas middle school students headed to DC for national distinction
GLADEWATER, Texas (KETK) — The Sabine Middle School earned a national distinction by being a designated school to watch.

According to a release, the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals designate Sabine Middle School in Gladewater and Sabine ISD as a Texas School to Watch. The middle school joins around 60 other campuses across Texas with the distinction.
Sabine Middle School was recognized in Austin at TASSP’s Making Middle School Matter Symposium and will be recognized nationally in Washington D.C. on June 20 – June 22.
“These Schools to Watch are indeed special, they make education so exciting that students and teachers don’t want to miss a day. These schools have proven that it is possible to overcome barriers in achieving excellence, and any middle-level school in any state can truly learn from their examples,” National Forum Executive Director Cathy Perry said.
