East Charlotte brothers arrested for drug trafficking, weapons following year-long investigation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A pair of brothers were arrested in east Charlotte Tuesday on drug trafficking charges following a year-long investigation.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers from the Hickory Grove Division Crime Reduction Unit began investigating brothers Alan Cruz, 21, and Sergio Cruz, 22, over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery. They observed drug trafficking activity centered around the brother’s residence via surveillance and traffic stops.

On Feb. 27, officers executed a search warrant of the residence. A several-hour search led to the reported seizure of seized eight firearms, various amounts of narcotics and more than $18,000 in cash. Among the seizures were:

  • Four Pistols, two with illegal switches

  • One Folding Rifle

  • Two Assault Rifles

  • 3.5 pounds of Marijuana

  • 15.0 grams of Mushrooms

  • 82.2 grams MDMA

Both Alan and Sergio Cruz were arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute, felony possession of heroin and two counts of possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
